I have recently been playing on online MMORPG and i keep disconnecting. I am sure this is a DDOS attack ans the guy who DDOS'd me said that he knew my ip adress and sure enough he said it correct. How do i stop these people from discovering my ip adress?

My 12yo son's MSN account was recently hijacked by someone extremely peverted. I googled "hijacked MSN account" and found a 1800102108 MSN help number that turned out to be fraudulent. This was only discovered after I gave them access to my PC via LogMeIn but refused to pay the $60 unhijack fee. What can I do to undo the damage? Will they be able to monitor my PC from now on?

Apologies for not visiting PC User’s site for a while – I’ve been really busy with my new ventures. Anyway, I note that there's been a spam problem here and while it’s pretty much impossible to beat the spammers completely, there are ways to dramatically reduce it.

First, a rundown of the antispam features already on this site:

I have done multiple fresh Downloads & install of Avast, Malbytes Malware,Spybot,Etc., Etc.
I have even had Norton's Techies (After installing Norton 360) spend 8 Hours remotely accessing my Computer & yet no-one can figure out why I can not download any Automatic Definition Updates whatsoever.(I can download anything else without problem)
Trouble is that it is always a Desperate Struggle to find & install Manual Updates.

I have 2 PCs infected with the Windows Premium Guard Trojan. I have seen many options discussed when googling this problem but each different forums offers up different trojan removal programs which will scan and than charge you to remove them. I am currently running Trend Micro Maximum Security but this was only updated once the trojan had already taken hold and does not appear to be current enough to get rid of it.

Does Windows 7 Firewall Control create conflicting issues with my Norton Internet Security 2012 ? Does it interfere with my NIS causing it not to work properly ?

Like many, I'm sick of this site's SPAM.

It renders it useless.

For such a credible magazine, it is disappointing.

What credibility is there for a 'help' website that cannot even manage its own SPAM problem?

Looking for software that will assist in providing some measure of security while I am on the Internet while using public WiFi hotspots like McDonald's or at a hotel.

I understand that using Virtual Private Network software will do this for me. Unfortunately I have no understanding of how it might do it for me. I am the world's worst researcher.

I am happy to pay for software but I would like to try it out first to see what it can do.

Not Really A question. I recently had months of problems with my Win7 system being very slow. Programs would take ages to open. I finally narrowed it down to Kaspersky. After four years I've regretfully said bye bye.

Could the spammers please be blocked from posting to the technical forum? I've seen about 15 spam messages so far today and the 'report' button seems to be inoperative.

The spammers' identities are known, so how about either deleting their log-in credentials or going to a moderated format?
